ClassWhat Agents Look For In Your Fantasy Novels
We're living in an era filled with great fantasy stories! Fantasy novels for the adult market, fantasy novels for younger readers, "Romantasy", manga, graphic novels, fantasy on TV and in films...the list goes on and on and consumers are hungry!
Sara Megibow and Matthew Valdez - literary agents from Megibow Literary Agency—will give an in-depth, behind-the-scenes course aimed at workshopping your fantasy novels. What's working? What are agents/ editors/ publishers/ booksellers and readers looking for? How can you craft and pitch your fantasy novel for publication—whether that is through traditional publishing, small press publishing, self publishing or beyond?
The first step will be chatting through your pitch. Don't worry—this is a comfortable and supporting environment!
Then, we will talk about opening pages and the manuscript itself.
We'll close out with time for Q&A.
Your manuscript can be complete or not-yet-complete. Ideally you have one (ONE!) not-yet-published manuscript to workshop although if it is already published that's not a deal-breaker. Absolutely ANY and ALL sub genres of fantasy are welcome (adult, young adult, Romantasy, etc. etc. etc). You can be a published author or not-yet-published. Matthew and Sara will not be reading anything in advance but we will share submission information with all attendees at the end of the course. This course does not imply a written critique of your work although the intention is to discuss your work, in depth, during the class itself. Many attendees find it useful to have access to their pitch/ query letter and manuscript for the day of the event.
