ClassZones of Care: New Nature Writing in 4 Weeks
How do we relate to the natural world in the age of the anthropocene? This class invites writers to explore new ways of writing the natural world. By focusing our attention on the more-than-human world, we remind ourselves of the interconnectedness of all living things. We'll contemplate fungi, plants, soil and the elements, and animals with the goal of expanding our attention and noticing the nature that exists all around us. This is a generative, multi-genre class in which writers will create poems and/or micro essays and read work by modern nature writer such as Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Ada Limón, and Ross Gay . Most of our time in-class will be devoted to generative writing, sharing, and discussion. While we won't hold a formal workshop, there will be ample time to share work in-class and receive informal feedback from other writers.
