Zenith Bookstore is thrilled to welcome Joyce Sutphen, Connie Wanek and Louis Jenkins for a triple-header evening of poetry.

The three esteemed poets, all with strong connections to Duluth and the Northland, will be discussing their work, reading from new collections, and signing copies of their books.

Joyce Sutphen, the current Minnesota Poet Laureate, will present her new work Carrying Water to the Field. Sutphen received the Minnesota Book Award for Poetry in 2005.

Connie Wanek has published six books of poems and is the recipient of numerous honors, including the George Morrison Artist of the Year Award in 2009, which recognizes an individual whose body of work has made a significant contribution to the arts in Northeastern Minnesota. In 2017, a wildflower trail in Duluth’s Hartley Nature Center was named in her honor.

Louis Jenkins will present his new book Where Your House Is Now - New and Selected Prose Poems. Jenkins lived in Duluth for 45 years. He has published 10 collections of poetry and was awarded two Bush Foundation Fellowships, a Loft-McKnight fellowship, and was the 2000 George Morrison Award winner. He is considered a contemporary master of the prose poem.

This event is free and open to the public.
