Since 2013, the Minnesota Humanities Center has honored Minnesota Veterans who, in a myriad of ways, contribute to their communities, state, and country. On October 8th, 2020, the Veterans’ Voices Award Ceremony will continue to honor the outstanding work of Minnesota’s Veterans by celebrating their poetry, prose, essays, memoirs, and writings in an online format.

This year’s Ceremony will feature award-winning poet and US Army Veteran Brian Turner. In his poetry and prose, Turner conveys both elegant and devastating portraits what it means of to be a soldier and a human being. Join Brian live for an interactive Q & A experience! The event will also include guest speaker Kao Kalia Yang. An acclaimed award-winning author, Yang will explore how intergenerational storytelling connects us to war and memory. Be part of the 2020 Ceremony to celebrate local Veterans’ stories and experiences with acclaimed authors for an inspirational evening.
