Maria Burns Ortiz is a bestselling author, award-winning journalist, and video game studio founder. Her book My Fight/Your Fight with Ronda Rousey hit No. 5 on the New York Times list, was named U.K. Sports Book of the Year, was recommended on the Today Show, and has been translated into nine languages. As a journalist for leading national and international news publications, she was recognized as the National Association of Hispanic Journalists’ Emerging Journalist of the Year, named one of Massachusetts' 100 Most Influential People for Hispanics, and received a Berlin Capital Program Fulbright grant. In her role as CEO/creative director of 7 Generation Games, she develops historically accurate content into compelling narratives, focused on indigenous and under-represented voices. A graduate of New York University, Maria was a visiting lecturer at Tufts University and adjunct professor at Emerson College. She now resides in Minneapolis with her husband and three young children.
