Nigar Alam
Nigar Alam’s debut novel, Under the Tamarind Tree, was longlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. She has attended the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop and lives in Minnesota with her family. Nigar was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and spent her childhood in Turkey, Nigeria, Italy, Kenya, Indonesia and the United States before returning to Karachi. With an MBA and CPA, she has worked in both brand management and auditing and has taught at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Nigar believes her students’ curiosity and growth are the best parts of teaching.
