Finding Your Story Through Images: Writing with Visual Art (for Ages 15 to 18)

Want to write a story but have no idea where to start? What if the story you're meant to tell is already hiding in the artwork that makes you stop and stare?

In this interactive workshop, you'll discover how visual art can lead to your most authentic creative voice.

The session will have two main components:

Ekphrastic Writing: We'll look at how writers respond to visual art, then you'll write to provided images, using prompts that help you dig deep and write with more power. What's this image trying to tell you? What character lives inside it? What happened right before this moment?

SoulCollage®: You'll create your own collage through a gentle guided process, using images that speak to yo. Then you'll use your creation to inspire a story, leading you towards characters, worlds, and stories you didn't know were there.

By the end, you'll have several pieces of writing to keep developing, plus tools for turning what you see into vivid, unforgettable prose.
