Have you ever wondered how to become a travel writer? If so, this generative workshop will help you write about your journeys and adventures, past and future. We’ll discuss different kinds of travel writing opportunities, as well as how to craft an effective travel piece. Topics covered will include keeping a journal; research and audience; concrete detail and sense in setting; the use of effective dialogue and narrative voice; the development of action and arc, and common pitfalls to avoid. This is a hands-on generative class.

After the completion of this course, students will be able to:
-distinguish different types of travel writing
-describe the characteristics of an effective travel piece
-understand next steps for their own travel work, in terms of revision, editing, and publishing opoortunities
