ClassYoung Writers: Nature Writing for Grades 10-12
This multigenre class will investigate the centuries-long connection between the word and the natural world. How do you interpret nature? How do you connect to it? Is there a connection between human nature and the natural world?
In an age that further isolates us from the natural world, we will explore the importance of valuing and protecting our environment, getting outside, and writing to our natural world. We will explore both contemporary and classic texts. The final project will be a small portfolio of poetry and/or prose.
All readings will be free and accessible. All you need to bring is your imagination! Register separately for a supervised lunchtime enrichment time from 12-1PM in the Performance Hall with Loft staff. Students should bring their own packed lunch and water bottle, as there is a filtered water dispenser on site.
