Poetry with pen

Do you love to read poetry and have always wanted to try writing it? Do you have bits of poems or lyrical writing in your journal or notes app that you want to shape into poems?

Come explore the craft of poetry in this six-week course. Each week will feature a fundamental element of poetry, such as imagery, form, etc. There will be example poems for discussion from Jericho Brown, Jennifer Chang, Eduardo C. Corral, Ocean Vuong and more. Each lesson will include an exercise and a prompt that will help you draft a poem each week.

In addition, you will give & receive feedback with at least one other student, as well as receive instructor feedback. By the end of the class, you will have learned craft techniques and have a few poem drafts to continue working on. Based on interest, a live final class reading or instructor office hours via Zoom may be included.

All Classes listed on the Loft website take place in Central Time.
