Class6-Week: First Steps into Writing
This is a class for those who are ready for the adventure of claiming or reclaiming who you are as a writer. Find out what you have to say! Explore the world around you and within you in new ways through language. Writing exercises will encourage you to open doors and cross thresholds to find words and stories that have been waiting to be discovered—by you. Writing prompts in and out of class will invite you to express your unique voice in new and possibly revelatory ways through journaling, poetry, memoir, and/or short fiction. Expect to generate lots of material and have time to read your work in class and get immediate feedback (optional).
You’ll leave this experience with a deeper connection to your creative voice, a collection of new written material, and fresh perspectives on storytelling. You’ll also gain confidence through guided prompts and exercises, plus optional feedback from peers and the instructor.
This class takes place in-person, at the Loft at Open Book; we encourage participants to be fully vaccinated and masked in the interest of everyone’s safety. Please see the Loft’s website for the most up to date information about the Loft’s COVID policies.
