ClassCreating Compelling Characters With the Tarot
Strong character development is vital to writing an impactful story that your readers can’t put down. With my Creating Compelling Characters with the Tarot method, I help writers go from basic character development to creating living and breathing personalities with the practical magic of the tarot.
I teach how you can use the court cards of the tarot as an exceptionally creative source that helps you dig deep into personality archetypes; no previous knowledge of the tarot is needed! This creative writing tool is helpful at any stage of your story--even if it’s only an idea at present--whether you are writing a book, a screenplay, or working in narrative design. As such a unique process, it’s also the perfect remedy to combat writer’s block!
Come to the workshop with an active character or an idea of one. You will participate in class discussion and some writing exercises, and we'll go through a call-to-action workbook that includes reference and questionnaire worksheets. You will leave with inspirational ideas that will keep your characters consistent and relatable throughout your entire story and any future tales beyond!
Come to class with a working character, an idea of one, or one you'd like to resurrect! Here is a link to a workbook we will reference and work with in class. Please print it out beforehand and bring it with you. https://bit.ly/4hjL7Eu However, as this is mostly for your reference and to complete at a later date, you are more than welcome to skip the printing and view it on the device that you may choose to bring to class. Please bring a notebook for extra note-taking and writing exercises.
This class takes place in-person, at the Loft at Open Book; we encourage participants to be fully vaccinated and masked in the interest of everyone’s safety. Please see the Loft’s website for the most up to date information about the Loft’s COVID policies.
