During this one day workshop, you and a group of fellows writers will individually write, workshop, and edit the same short piece of fiction several times. We will experiment with several tools for editing and expanding a piece, including changing perspectives and point of view, adding dialogue and description, playing with psychic distance, and pushing your characters in and out of their comfort zone. Learn the basics of workshopping with a group, including how to support diverse writing styles and story goals, and leave with multiple tricks for pushing and polishing your work. Ideal for students who are eager to share their writing with their peers, build community, and gain insights into the developmental editing process. All genres welcome.
