Horror gorges full on the other. Obsesses over it. Breaks down the barriers between other and self. Between past and present. Invites audiences to brush up against otherness. But what happens when you are the other?

Necrofemme: Queering Horror will explore how to restructure horror storytelling from the perspective of the other. Specifically, we will examine queer narratives in horror and discuss craft techniques in these narratives. We will spend time with fiction, poetry, and essays as we work to build a knowledge base from which to write. Students will be invited to explore their own identities in horror through short lectures, in-class discussions, writing exercises, and direct feedback.

All readings will be provided in class. The first four weeks will be spent exploring queerness in horror through various lenses. The last two weeks will be spent on a multitude of different writing exercises with the chance to receive direct feedback on a short story or project.

All Classes listed on the Loft website take place in Central Standard Time (CST); make sure you understand your time zone, and adjust accordingly
