Friday Night Welcome Party — October 2024 Lit!Series

Kick off the October Lit!Series with our Friday night welcome party! This will be a fun chance to mingle with fellow Lit!Series participants, meet some of our Visiting Artists, and explore this month’s theme: Banned Books.

We are proud to partner with the Minnesota chapter of Authors Against Book Bans (AABB), a coalition of writers, illustrators, anthology editors and contributors, and other book creators, standing united against the deeply unconstitutional movement to limit the freedom to read.

We’ll hear from AABB members about the current censorship challenges schools, libraries, authors, and students are facing across the country. We’ll also participate in a postcard-writing campaign to send notes of encouragement and gratitude to librarians and teachers who are impacted by current book bans. The postcard illustration will be designed by local illustrator and children's book author, Meenal Patel.

Light snacks and refreshments will be served. Registration for this party is included with all Lit!Series Craft Seminar passes and Agent/Editor appointments (you do not need to register separately if you register for one of those offerings). Tickets for non-Lit!Series participants are $10 and limited.
