January 8, 2024

Choreographer, dancer, and poet Mary Moore Easter will read from her memoir “The Way She Wants To Get There: Telling On Myself” (Nodin, 2022). The memoir traces Moore Easter’s development as a dancer during the decade between 1968 and 1979, a pivotal era in American race relations, women’s rights, and the arts. Mary is founder and former director of Carleton College’s dance program and two-time Cave Canem writing fellow.

This event is in concurrence with the exhibit “Dance Roots: Minnesota’s Movers and Shakers” and is co-sponsored by the curators of the Performing Arts Archives and the Givens Collection. A Q&A session will follow the reading.
