ClassComic Connection: The Tie Between Humor and Reader Emotion
Humor puts life into perspective. In an exploration of the tie between humor and reader emotion, this class explores tools and elements of comedy that bring humor into fiction writing, giving breathing room to the dark and bringing more light to the connections of characters and their stories. Various craft elements will be examined as well as positioning humor for character and reader emotion. Students will have a chance to participate in various short writing activities to reveal their own personal style of humor which can be incorporated into their writing. Students will have an opportunity to share their writing with the class if they are comfortable doing so.
This class takes place in-person, at the Loft at Open Book; we encourage participants to be fully vaccinated and masked in the interest of everyone’s safety. Please see the Loft’s website for the most up to date information about the Loft’s COVID policies.
